Dombra and Kui — cards for kids

12 cards: a picture, a short story and audio

Sound Like a Voice

A dombra sounds not like a drum or a whistle, but like a living person. When the kuishi, the musician who plays the dombra, plucks a string, it shakes, and the air around it sways, like water in a basin when you slap it with your palm. These waves of air reach your ear, and you hear sound. That is why it seems the dombra is talking to you.
