The Horse and the Rider — cards for kids

Why a Horse Doesn't Fall
When a horse sleeps standing up, it doesn't fall, because it has a special lock in its legs. In the joints there is a little bone that clicks into place, like a seat belt, and keeps the leg straight. It's as if you fell asleep standing on one leg and suddenly your leg became hard as a post. That is why a horse can sleep standing for hours and not get tired.
